Every day, we speak about children's oncology. Today, we would like to discuss the alarming statistics that highlight the pressing nature of the issue. According to the World Health Organisation, every year, about 215 thousand children under 15 get cancer in the world, and another 85 thousand children - from 15 to 19 years old. At the same time, about 100,000 children die of cancer every year.
About 150 cases of paediatric oncology are registered in Kyrgyzstan every year. Leukaemia ranks first, followed by tumours of the brain and other organs. You may have heard that cancer in children is a death sentence. That's a myth! Childhood cancer is curable. With timely treatment, children heal fully and return to life.
Lack of money to buy expensive medications is often an insurmountable obstacle. Unfortunately, not all medicines are available through state funding. We're running a "Time to Help" charity project for young patients at the National Centre for Maternal and Child Health.
The collected funds will be used to purchase vital medicines for seriously ill children and to pay for expensive laboratory tests.
It is essential to seek help as early as possible for higher chances of curing cancer and a more reliable prognosis.
Every child has the right to a happy childhood. Let’s aid in their recovery and overall well-being!
May your homes always be filled with peace, prosperity, good health and the warmth of your family and friends. May this joyful festival fill your hearts with kindness, compassion and gratitude.
